The Airstrip status has dilapidated following the recent heavy rains.
The 2020 Africa’s Travel Indaba exhibition has been postponed. The expo, one of the largest tourism marketing events in Africa, was postponed this year following a raft of measures from the South African government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

AIRKENYA is suspending service into Mara North Conservancy Airstrip, Maasai Mara with immediate effect until further notice due to the current state of the airstrip.
Airkenya has made the decision to fly into Oryx Airstrip located within the Samburu Game Reserve effective 1st June 2013. The Oryx Airstrip will conveniently serve all properties located within the Samburu Game Reserve and those just outside.
Airkenya has reinforced the flight against poachers with a donation of twelve Drums of Avgas fuel to the Tsavo Trust. The Trust provides aerial patrol over Tsavo Conservation Area with a specific focus on monitoring the large Tuskers.
